Each year, The Salvation Army provides over 10 million nights of shelter to those in need.
In 2015, the Emmanuel House Shelter provided 29,563 nights of secure lodging to 'chronically homeless' individuals.
Our group homes, emergency shelters and transitional living centers provide housing, food and overnight lodging for varying amounts of time to destitute families, the homeless, the displaced and to youth where family care is undesirable or unavailable. In addition, we supplement every shelter service with emotional and spiritual support.
The Emmanuel House provides overnight shelter services 365 days a year to men. Homeless men receive 14 free nights per year that can be used consecutively or divided up however they like. Afterwards, there is a fee of $5 per night.
Overnight clients sign-up for a bed between 1:30PM-2: 30PM, with a final role call and admission procedure performed at 3:30PM.
After taking showers and stowing baggage in a locked room for the night, each man receives a bed assignment, blankets, pillows, and sheets, which are stripped and washed the next morning.
Our full kitchen serves a hot dinner to overnighters every night at 4:30PM as well as a continental breakfast of breads, cereals, milk, and juice every morning starting at 6:00AM.
